On this page, I will discuss some of the global learning courses that I took and share a little bit of my experience. Some of them will link to some of my academic work.
REL 3308 Studies in World Religions

This class completed changed my perspective on world religions. It really opened my eyes to different cultures and realities. I did a group project on Judaism, which follows a complete line of faith and belief than I do, here it is if you want to have a look:
LAH 2020 Latin American Civilizations

Even though I am Latin, growing up in Brazil I did not have the opportunity to learn of the history of the countries around me and this place really did that for me. It helped me understand better the structural issues that Latin American countries go through today by learning its history.
INR 4075 Int'l Protection of Human Rights

This class really enhanced my understanding of the international organizations that are active today and about the different global human rights crisis happening currently and the ones that happened in the past. After taking this course, I decided to pursue the certificate in Human Rights and Transitioning Politics.
IDH 3034 Diplomacy Lab

This class was one of the most impactful and enhancing classes I took at FIU. I learned so much about International Relations and current global issues. We even had the opportunity to work in collaboration with the U.S. State Department on conducting research over the Haitian Diaspora.

GEO 3001 Geography of Global Change

This class helped to understand the global crisis that happen due to environmental issues, climate change, and other geographical aspects. We talked a lot of globalization and gentrification happening locally in the U.S. and globally, such as in Asia.

CCJ 4694 Human Trafficking

This was the only Criminal Justice class I took at FIU and it really helped to open my eyes to the issue of Human Trafficking, how it affects people in all continents of the globe, especially in Asia. International crimes are so important to know and to be aware of, and this class defined increased my awareness.
